39-Year-Old Arrested for Robbery, Pointing a Firearm

A North Bay man was arrested by police after pointing a handgun at another male, while demanding information.

The accused in this incident is:

Donald BELLAIRE, male, age 39, of North Bay, who is charged with:

  • One count of Robbery
  • One count of Pointing a Firearm
  • One count of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation

On April 10th, 2024, at around 3:20 pm, officers from the North Bay Police Service Patrol section were called to the 1100 block of Cassells Street, North Bay, in relation to a report that a man had pointed a handgun at another man, while demanding information from him. When the victim fled the scene to call police, the accused entered a nearby apartment building. Officers surrounded the building and the Emergency Response Team was called out. Residents of the building were evacuated safely, and police were able to determine the identity of the accused. A negotiator began to speak to accused, and at approximately 5:30pm, the accused exited the residence and surrendered himself to police. No injuries were sustained during the incident. A handgun was recovered at the scene, and it was determined that it was a pellet gun. The Criminal Investigations Section of the North Bay Police Service is continuing to investigate the incident.

The accused is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

The public is reminded that if an imitation firearm is used in an offence, police will treat it as a real firearm, and in court the consequences can be the same.
